Dear Sue & Lee,
Thank you both (and all your staff) so very much for your wonderful hampers on
Saturday night. I know from Jo that you both worked flat-out to ensure all the
picnics were fresh and assembled only at the last minute. My party were
delighted with their individual feasts and I felt absolutely justified in having
made the decision to allow you to do our catering. Around and about, everyone
seemed to be of the same opinion - wonderful quality, more than sufficient in
terms of quantity and all the finishing touches we could want. Thank you.
I was delighted with the evening - it was my first University-wide party as Vice-Chancellor and indeed, I'm told, the first University-wide party ever held. I can not think of a more wonderful setting for such an occasion. the gardens were in perfect condition and if the weather was not ideal, the bright upbeat cheerfulness and variety of your picnics bought their own sunshine.
I hope there will be other occasions
when we might bring you in. You may know that we move into the Devonshire Royal
this summer. A variety of events are being planned for the autumn as a
celebration of this new phase in the University's life; I know the office will
be in touch if they can see a way in which you might be involved. I also hope
that much new - and deserved - business will come your way from the many who
enjoyed your food on Saturday.
With best wishes,
John Coyne
Vice Chancellor
